Can I hire more than one maid?

Usually one. Under JIM's rules more than one helper needs a higher income, and a fourth or more needs the Director General's approval.

Usually one. Under the Immigration Department of Malaysia's (JIM) rules, one helper per family is the normal rule. More than one is allowed only with a higher income, and a fourth or more needs the Director General's approval. These are JIM's rules, last checked on 4 November 2026.

How do I check my own family's case?

Ask us on WhatsApp. A consultant will say plainly whether a helper fits, explain the steps, and give you a quote. We cannot promise the result of any approval: that decision rests with the authorities.

What are JIM's other rules for employers?

JIM's page sets these rules for employers:

  • your household has children under 15, or an ill parent;
  • a Muslim employer may employ only a Muslim helper;
  • a bankrupt person cannot apply.

Who is the employer?

Your family is the legal employer of the helper, never the agency or any company in our group.
